A new survey conducted by Ciphr has found that improved access to flexible working is seen as the top challenge arising out of the Employment Rights Bill, with 22% of respondents citing it as the most difficult proposal to implement. This shift aims to make flexible working the default option where practical, demanding substantial changes in workplace policies and practices.
Other notable challenges include enhanced legal protections for workers involved in industrial action (21%) and requirements for larger organisations to publish comprehensive Equality Action Plans, including menopause and gender pay data (17%). Extending employment tribunal claim time limits (17%) and expanding statutory sick pay entitlements (16%) also pose significant obstacles.
Larger businesses worry about increased costs from statutory sick pay changes, whereas smaller organisations are more concerned with probation periods and protections for pregnant employees.
