The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has voted to ban non-compete clauses in the United States, with the ban set to come into force in August 2024. However, this could be delayed or even blocked altogether by the fact that the US Chamber of Commerce have stated that they intend to commence legal action against the ban. Others may also sue. In terms of the UK, the Government announced back in May 2023 that it planned to legislate to limit non-compete clauses to 3 months post-termination of employment. However, despite that, there have been no further developments since that announcement, and it appears unlikely that anything will happen this side of a general election
