Civil Service Guidance On 60% Office Attendance To Remain In Place

In a press release issued on the 24th October 2024, the Cabinet Office has confirmed that the requirement for civil servants to spend 60% of their working time in the office will remain in place. Occupancy data for the period July - September 2024 revealed that excluding the Office of the Secretary of State for Wales (who failed to provide all of their data), the average level of office attendance was 69.21%. Whilst the department with the highest level of office attendance during the quarter was the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (94.33%), 5 of the 19 departments completely failed to hit the target of 60%. The department with by far the lowest level of office attendance was the Ministry of Housing Communities and Local Government, with office attendance of just 50.33%.
