AI Safety Summit Starts On Wednesday 1st November 2023, As President Biden Issues Executive Order

The AI Safety Summit 2023 is scheduled to take place at Bletchley Park. The summit aims to mitigate the risks associated with artificial intelligence (AI), especially those related to misuse and loss of control. The objective of the government is to raise awareness of these potential risks, promote global cooperation for AI safety, encourage organizations to implement safety measures, explore collaborative AI safety research and showcase the benefits of secure AI development for global benefit. Although the summit is primarily focused on the safety and ethical use of AI, its outcomes may have indirect impacts on employment law. For instance, concerns about AI perpetuating bias may lead to more legislation, and new regulations may be introduced to ensure worker safety in AI-enabled environments. There are also concerns about job displacement. Ahead of the summit, President Biden issued an executive order which stipulates that AI developers must share safety information with the US government prior to releasing new systems.
